Zn-Co-CeO2 vs. Zn-Co Coatings: Effect of CeO2 Sol in the Enhancement of the Corrosion Performance of Electrodeposited Composite Coatings

Electrodeposition and characterization of novel ceria-doped Zn-Co composite coatings was the main goal this research. Electrodeposited were compared to pure obtained under same conditions. The effect two ceria sources, powder home-made sol, on morphology corrosion resistance determined. During electrodeposition process plating solution successfully agitated in an ultrasound bath. source particles found influence stability dispersity solutions. application sol resulted increase content resulting coating favored refinement from cauliflower-like (Zn-Co) uniform compact coral-like structure (Zn-Co-CeO2 sol). enhanced bare as evidenced by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy scanning Kelvin probe results. doped with originating exhibited superior Zn-Co-CeO2 (powder) coatings. self-healing rate artificial defect calculated based measured Volta potential difference for which (sol) a 73.28% chloride-rich environment.
